The narrow proportion and multi-functional nature of this custom kitchen island make a centerpiece in the open layout of this living space. The square edge detailing of the counter and base evoke monolithic blocks of different material. The island provides storage on one side and seating on the other, with an overall length just over seven feet and a width of just 17”. The “public” side of the island has a seamless face with deeply carved openings to put wine storage on display. The CNC milled openings are carved deep into the cabinet, reinforcing the appearance of a solid block of material. The “service” side of the island neatly tucks in 5 drawers with recessed pulls, while single bent steel leg provide a more open ended appearance on the seating side.
